A special evening of “Noh” and “Kyogen” traditional Japanese performances at a famous temple near Haneda Airport


【Please read it before placing order】

  1. This item is a ticket to see a traditional performance at a Japanese temple on May 13, 2025. You must be in Japan on this date (you must enter Japan at least one day before May 13.
  2. After placing your order, you will receive a reply email with a PDF that will replace your ticket. On the day of the event, please show that PDF ticket at the reception desk and you will be admitted.

    *There will be an S seating area and an A seating area; tickets for the S seating area will be available for viewing in the indoor venue even if it rains. Seating in the S seating area is unreserved.

Noh and Kyogen plays are performed in a fantastic atmosphere by a bonfire. This is a great opportunity to casually enjoy traditional Japanese performing arts in an open-air setting, and is recommended for first-time visitors as well. Tablets with English subtitles and explanations of Noh plays are available for rental  (Rental fee 1,000 yen; please pay at the reception desk on the day. You can order as additional items when you place your order.) 

Every year in early summer, a special stage is set up outdoors at Heiken-ji Temple (a.k.a. Kawasaki Daishi) to stage performances of Noh and Kyogen, traditional Japanese performing arts. The stage is lit by a bonfire to create a fantastic atmosphere, and the prestigious performances are well received by people from inside and outside the city as well as foreigners.

■Time: 5:30 p.m. (Doors open at 4:15 p.m.) *Performance will end around 8:20 p.m. 
■Program: Kyogen “Takara-no-tsuchi” Noh “Kasuga Ryujin Ryunyo no Mai” and others 
■Place: Special stage at Heiken-ji Temple (a.k.a. Kawasaki Daishi)
■Address: 4-48 Daishi-cho, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki-shi
*In case of rain, the stage will be moved to the Shinto Kaikan on the temple grounds

*Pre-school children are not allowed to enter.

About Kawasaki Daishi Takigi Noh Executive Committee
March 21, 2014 The Kawasaki City Tourism Association and the Kawasaki Cultural Foundation take over the management of the festival from the Kawasaki City Noh and Chant Association, and establish an executive committee consisting of representatives of city organizations involved in culture.
On June 6, 2014, the 39th Kawasaki Daishi Takigi Noh Play was staged.
Since then, Kawasaki Daishi Takigi Noh has been performed once a year.
