A Coffee Experience You Must Try at Least Once in Your Lifetime

What is Kopi Luwak, the Legendary Coffee?

Kopi Luwak, often called the world's rarest and most luxurious coffee, comes from undigested coffee beans that pass through the digestive system of the Asian palm civet, a small, cat-like mammal known as "Luwak" in Indonesia. The civet naturally selects only the ripest coffee cherries, consuming the fruit while the beans remain intact. During digestion, enzymes in the civet’s stomach break down proteins in the beans, resulting in a uniquely rich and smooth flavor. The result is an extraordinary coffee with a deep, complex aroma—often described as almost aphrodisiacal.

Our Kopi Luwak is 100% wild-sourced from Indonesia, ensuring its authenticity and natural fermentation process.

Special Roasting Method – "Single Blend" for Maximum Flavor

We have developed a unique roasting method called "Single Blend" to bring out the full potential of our Kopi Luwak beans. During our roasting process, we discovered that the ideal roast level for aroma differs slightly from the optimal roast level for taste. Rather than choosing one over the other, we perfected a method of roasting the same batch of beans at two different levels and then blending them together.

This technique enhances both aroma and flavor, creating a perfectly balanced cup with an exceptionally smooth and layered taste. Though it requires twice the effort, we believe that a truly special coffee deserves a special roasting process.

Direct Sourcing from the Jungles of Sumatra, Indonesia

Our journey to source authentic Kopi Luwak took us deep into the jungles of North Sumatra, near Lake Toba, the world’s largest volcanic caldera lake. The area is remote—accessible only by a five-hour drive from Medan, the region’s largest city.

While many Kopi Luwak beans on the market come from farmed civets that are force-fed coffee cherries, our beans are exclusively wild-collected. This means our team ventures into the dense jungle to search for naturally excreted civet droppings, ensuring that only truly wild and naturally fermented beans are used.

Why did we choose this region?
Although the origins of Kopi Luwak trace back to Aceh, another region of Sumatra, we specifically source from the Mandheling coffee-growing areas around Lake Toba. Unlike Aceh, which mainly cultivates the Ateng coffee variety (known for its heavier taste), the Mandheling region grows exceptional varieties such as Lintong, LINI.S, Bourbon, Kartika, and S795. These high-quality beans enhance the distinctive character of our Kopi Luwak, making it truly one of a kind.

Collecting wild Kopi Luwak is no easy task. Our local partners navigate rough jungle terrain and unpredictable weather, carefully gathering and processing the beans. Over time, we have built strong friendships with the local community, ensuring a sustainable and ethical sourcing process.
