Product Description
This silk folding fan, called "Monsha," represents the pinnacle of Japanese weaving and dyeing techniques. It features a unique design created through a weaving process called "karami-ori," which interlaces see-through and opaque sections to form intricate patterns. This delicate artistry is brought to life through a rare post-dyeing method, which only our company in Japan has mastered, especially with such thin fabric.

The monsha silk fabric used in this fan is exceptionally fine, a level of precision that few artisans can achieve. The intricate patterns and the fan's texture are the result of years of experience and a high level of craftsmanship, elevating this product to the status of a true work of art.

The natural luster and vibrant colors of the silk enhance the fan’s elegant design, making it more than just a functional item for cooling yourself during Japan’s hot summers. It brings a sense of sophistication and serenity to its owner. Folding fans have long been cherished in Japan as symbols of good fortune, making this a perfect gift for weddings, celebrations, or as a luxurious gift for someone special.

Choose this one-of-a-kind "Monsha" silk folding fan as a special gift for someone you care about. Its beauty and traditional craftsmanship are sure to bring joy to both the giver and the recipient.

Brand Information
Founded over 100 years ago in 1895, Ogura Orimono is the last remaining silk jacquard weaving studio in Japan specializing in post-dyeing techniques. Located in Ishikawa Prefecture, Ogura Orimono has a rich history of craftsmanship, including creating scarves for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and collaborating with prestigious international luxury brands.

In the pre-war era, the company focused on producing traditional Japanese textiles such as Mon-Wataju and Komatsu-Rinzu. After the war, they shifted their attention to exporting wide-format jacquard fabrics. The company has received numerous honors, including visits from the Japanese Imperial Family and the use of their silk in royal gifts. Their fabrics have adorned dresses in Paris Fashion Week and have even been featured in collaborative collections with renowned designers like Yohji Yamamoto.

Ogura Orimono is the last company in Japan still practicing the complex art of post-dyeing wide jacquard fabrics, which results in a product unlike any other in the world. They continue to uphold the heritage of traditional silk weaving, using rare 1960s looms and the skilled craftsmanship of their artisans to create fabrics that are both beautiful and durable.
