Baked chocolate cake has a velvety texture that melts in your mouth. Baked with as much as 60% chocolate, this cake has such a rich chocolate flavor that it feels as if you are savoring raw chocolate.

Safe to bring around even at room temperature, this product has passed the 90-day shelf life test at 30°C.

A chocolate confection with an intense flavor, this moist, firm, and rich cake will surprise you with its chocolate flavor the first time you try it. No chocolate lover will be able to resist the temptation of this chocolate confection.

Chilling the product in the refrigerator will make the chocolate cool and smooth, while heating it up will create a delectable chocolate confection with a delicate, freshly baked texture in addition to its intense chocolate flavor. The cakes are individually wrapped for easy distribution. The orange peel incorporated in this product is entirely homemade.

For this step, orange peel is preboiled several times to remove its harshness and packed together with syrup in a vacuum bag before it is vacuum cooked in a steam convection oven, minced, and kneaded into the dough for the Mushi Chocolat.

This product is made with a patented process using 60% couverture chocolate. The orange peel used in it is entirely homemade. It has been selected as a local specialty product of Kawasaki City and as the No. 1 hit product for this year's Valentine's Day by the Nikkei.

Our Story

When the celebrity chefs did not really enjoy my chocolate cake, which was featured as my specialty, and failed to understand its appeal, I was prompted to make my own delicious chocolate cake without being held back by existing production methods.

Instead of making the cake with cocoa powder, I made it with actual chocolate packed with umami flavor, reduced the number of filler ingredients as much as possible, and developed a patented technique for emulsifying egg whites with the chocolate to complete the cake.

When our Tachikawa store was featured in the Nikkei for the lines on Valentine's Day, major confectionery companies tried to imitate our product, so we applied for a patent, which was granted three years later. Today, we sell around 140,000 cakes during the Valentine's Day period in the first half of February. This product has become wildly popular, selling 400,000 pieces each year.

We have also collaborated with Mr. Sawanoi of Ozawa Shuzo, a sake brewery in Okutama (also in the Tama region of Tokyo), to create a version of Mushi Chocolat that incorporates the use of sakekasu (sake lees) as part of the ecute Tachikawa project. While this was a short-lived project, we received so many inquiries from our customers that we began selling it as a regular product.

Notes

Although we inspect the product during shipment, please open it only after confirming that the Ageless Eye oxygen indicator on the back of the product packaging is pink.

If the indicator is gray before you open the product, the packaging may have been damaged and the oxygen scavenger may no longer be effective, leading to a risk of mold.

Please contact us without opening the product in such cases. The indicator will turn gray after the product is opened.

About Us

Since its opening in 2004, ""Il Fait Jour"" has continued to create attractive and unique confections based on traditional methods of making confections widely popular in the south of France, but with its own unique twist.

We strictly select ingredients such as wheat, butter, salt, milk, cacao, chocolate, nuts, sugar, and fruit, no matter how small the quantity, and take our time to refine our production methods through repeated trial productions, so that our customers can enjoy delicate and deep flavors through the synergy of the individuality and combination of ingredients.

The synergistic effect of the individuality and combination of the ingredients is used to create a delicate and deep flavor.

In order to deliver not only the flavor, aroma, vivid color, and beauty that only French confectionery can offer, but also higher quality and safer products, we are also very particular about the availability of ingredients, and we have expanded our horizons to the entire world, both domestically and internationally, investigating the climate, soil, production methods, processing methods, and other factors of the producing regions to develop our own acquisition routes.

Each and every confectionery produced by ""Il Fait Jour"" is a ""work of art"" that we are proud to offer to our customers. We are proud to offer our confectionaries as ""works of art"" with no compromise.

We respect the individuality of the ingredients we carefully select from all over the world, and we want our customers to be able to enjoy the taste of delicious ingredients using delicious production methods. This is ""Il Fait Jour"" commitment.

Delightful Sweets from Il Fait Jour

I received sweets from Il Fait Jour as a gift. I hadn’t heard of this shop before, but it seems their main store is in Kakio, and they also have a branch at Ecute Tachikawa. The area around Kakio and Shinyurigaoka is home to many great patisseries, including my favorite, Lilienberg! The steamed chocolate I received was a cute, bite-sized treat. It was rich, flavorful, and meticulously crafted. I’m not a fan of overly rich gateau chocolates, but the size of this one was just right—it didn’t feel overwhelming, and I really enjoyed it. It’s a shame the store is far from me, but at 147 yen per piece, it would make a great gift if you live nearby. How lucky for those who do!

Limited-Time Steamed Chocolate from Tokyu Square!

I tried the delicious steamed chocolate from a store that was set up for a limited time at Tokyu Square in Musashi Kosugi. Tokyu Square hosts a rotating "1-week shop" where the stores change every week, making it fun to visit. The shop this time was "Il Fait Jour," which has multiple locations centered around Kawasaki. The steamed chocolate was small yet had a heavy, rich feel. The texture was moist, and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you for the treat!

Delicious Steamed Chocolate!

I received this as a gift. It's called "Steamed Chocolate," and though I wasn’t sure what to expect, it came with different recommendations for eating: as is, heated, or chilled. I tried it at room temperature, and wow—it was amazing! I instantly became a fan. Since this was a gift, I’d love to go buy something else from the shop next time. Thank you for the treat!

Exquisite Steamed Chocolate!

My sister, who lives in Shinyurigaoka, brought this as a gift when she returned to our family home. I've been to Shinyurigaoka a few times, and it's such a nice place with commercial facilities lined up in front of the station and quiet residential areas just a few minutes away by car. I haven't visited this shop myself, but according to my sister, it's a famous patisserie in Shinyurigaoka. I was thrilled to receive such a chic gift! This time, I got an assortment of bite-sized gateau chocolates! It included both plain and orange flavors. I popped one into my mouth and—wow! The moist, rich gateau chocolate was dangerously delicious! I almost couldn't stop eating. Personally, I preferred the orange flavor because of its fragrant, refreshing taste.
