About Shizuoka Tokusan Kogyo Kyokai.
Shizuoka City's local industry began when the Shizuoka Sengen Shrine was constructed by the third Tokugawa Shogun, Iemitsu, and skilled craftsmen were gathered from all over the country. Their outstanding skills have been passed down through several generations, and since then, it has been nurtured by many people over its long history and traditions and has developed into the center of the local economy.
Traditional crafts, because of their history and charm, have come to be treated like valuables or works of art, and have become detached from people's daily lives. However, they were originally meant to be practical items that could enrich people's lives when used. They are not only beautiful, but are also durable, repairable, and long-lasting, which are products that have all the characteristics that will be required in the future.
Our wish is to once again turn traditional crafts into everyday items that people will want to use for a long time.
Suruga Trad is a website where you can purchase crafts made by artisans in Shizuoka City.
