Description

It is said that the lanterns are lit as a guide for the spirits of the deceased and ancestors to find their way home without getting lost.Originally, fires were lit in front of the gates of houses as welcoming and sending off fires, but in the Edo period, these came to be lit by lanterns. This led to the custom of transferring the porcelain to a storage container and displaying it.This is said to be the beginning of "Bon lanterns."

The lanterns are made of wood and gold plated. We have a wide variety of lanterns for memorial services for ancestors. We only display carefully selected items, from existing products to made-to-order products, and we can also add family crests to your order.

Lanterns are lit and displayed to mark the home and welcome the spirits of those who have passed away.

About Muroya

Muroya has inherited the name "Muroya" from a brewery (miso, soy sauce, or koji maker). Currently, we stock a wide variety of nostalgic toys and sweets. We accept large orders for festivals and events, as well as for children and individuals. We also stock hagoita (battledore), hamayumi (bad bow), Hina dolls, May dolls, carp streamers, and Bon lanterns for seasonal events such as Boys' Festival, Girls' Festival, and Obon, as well as events to pray for children's growth. Since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, all of our employees have been working to create a store that is enjoyable and appealing to individual customers, rather than a business. In the summer, there are many festivals, so we sell products that can be enjoyed at home, such as by dividing up large items into smaller portions. We also create assorted sweets boxes to meet customer requests.

Research Kumamoto Prefecture here (wikipedia). It is an area rich in delicious food, delicious water (Kumamoto's tap water is natural mineral water), great nature, and history that we don't want to share with too many foreigners. Recently, the good qualities of Kumamoto are becoming known, especially among Taiwanese people.
