Description

These chopstick rests are in the shape of Mount Fuji, a World Heritage Site.

It is modeled after Mount Fuji, a World Heritage Site, and is made from cypress wood from Shizuoka. Cedar and cypress are materials that we must actively use, even with the current forestry issues. The unique, pleasant scent of conifers is soothing. It also makes full use of traditional wood-turning techniques, and the gently curved form makes the wood grain look like Mount Fuji. It comes in a refreshing blue box and includes a leaflet that makes it a great souvenir to take home overseas.

This is a chopstick holder. Mt.fuji is carved into the wood. We use the technique know as “hikimono turnery” which means to carve or products into our derived desing or shapes.

The Shizuoka “hikimono turnery” is good at the mass production of accessories such as different tools and the funiture for the “Dolls Fastival” known as Hina-matsuri.

-Please note that the wood grain, color, etc. may vary slightly due to the characteristics of the material from piece to piece.
・Please do not use dishwashers or microwaves.
 - If left in a hot and humid place for a long period of time, it may occasionally become deformed.

About Kishimoto Hikimono (turnery).

Since its founding in 1950, Kishimoto Woodturning has been operating the local traditional woodturning industry in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, for three generations.
"Hikimono" is the process of carving wood into a round shape using a woodworking wheel or lathe, and many "turned" items are still used in our daily lives today, such as architectural decorations, furniture legs, Hina dolls accessories, wooden tops, and pepper grinders.
