Our Story
The history of Imabari Towel is said to have begun in 1894 when Heisuke Abe, who had been manufacturing cotton fabrics called Iyo Cotton Nel, started manufacturing towels in Imabari, an area where cotton weaving has been prosperous for a long time. Imabari Towel has been making history for more than 100 years in the northern part of Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku Island. Imabari has an abundance of high-quality soft water suitable for bleaching and dyeing, such as the subsoil water of the Sosha River, which contains few heavy metals and has low hardness components.
